Artist Statement

I have always been deeply impressed and fascinated with beautiful writing, whether done by a lay person or a professional. My interest in calligraphy grew from that seed. Practice, persistence, & consistency are necessary to build a calligrapher's writing skills, just as with learning any fine motor skill, like a musical instrument. Throughout history, calligraphers have recorded the knowledge, insights, and histories of generations, passing on a legacy rich in content and intricately beautiful in visual presentation. Calligraphers breathe life into letters. Creativity and sensitivity can be felt through calligraphic works of art, both traditional and modern.
